Maite Acedo, LMFT
Experience and Specialities
I have been a therapist for almost 25 years. During my years of practice, I have had the great fortune to work in health centers, hospitals and community settings, as well as in private practice. I have gathered extensive experience working with people from diverse backgrounds. These include cultures of various socioeconomic status, race, sexual diversity, different ages, with different diagnoses: from trauma to terminal cancer, addictions, chronic conditions, or dissociation.
I also have had the pleasure to work with first responders, doctors, therapists, students, artists, couples, and families. I honor diversity and the uniqueness of each person.
Before becoming a psychotherapist, I worked with children in school settings --from being a teacher's aid to a school counselor for 6 years. I deeply enjoyed it, as it taught me much about developmental psychology.
During my free time you are most likely to find me in nature or gathered together with loved ones. Also, I devote much of my time to continue to read and study advanced psychology and to practice meditation. I love to be in constant growth... I am an eternal learner!

A little fun fact about me: my name "Maite" [pronounced my-the] means "love" in Basque/Euskera language. I come from a blended background of nordic Basque mountains people and colorful tropical South American cultures.
